North American elearning conferences
Hosted by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), this popular conference brings together talent development pros from across the world for a weekend of professional development of their own.
They offer 14 different content and industry tracks, covering both learning and development subjects, as well as industry concentrations. Along with speakers and workshops, ATD also hosts an expo of cutting-edge learning development tools.
The 2017 conference runs from May 21-24, in Atlanta.
Core 4 is also put on by ATD, but it has a tighter focus on four of the foundational aspects of learning and talent development: instructional design, measurement and evaluation, training delivery and learning technologies.
The 2-day conference features over 25 educational sessions heavily focused on hands-on learning from industry leaders and creating actionable takeaways for attendees.
In 2017, Core 4 will take place March 23-24 in Long Beach, California.
For 40 years, Training magazine has hosted the Training Conference & Expo. The goal of the conference is to provide practical advice to training professionals, no matter their skill level.
Features include industry-leading speakers, pre-conference certificate programs, breakout sessions, hands-on clinics and post-conference tours of training programs at innovative companies.
The 2017 conference took place January 30-February 1 in San Diego; in 2018, the conference will be held February 12-14 in Atlanta.
Anyone who is involved in online learning should put this elearning conference at the top of their list. An interactive 3-day event hosted by Training magazine, the conference is packed with educational speakers, hands-on demonstrations, and networking. There’s also a pre-conference certification track for both new and seasoned professionals.
In 2017, the conference will be held September 25-27 in New Orleans.
The Human Capital Institute’s Learning and Leadership Development Conference is a must for human resource and talent management professionals. The focus is on combining effective leadership coaching with learning design to develop strong leaders from within and drive organizations forward.
The agenda includes keynotes from industry leaders interspersed with networking opportunities and breakout sessions.
The 2017 conference runs from September 18-20 in Chicago.
The International E-Learning Association’s ICELW is designed to connect elearning researchers and practitioners for three days of learning and networking. A robust presentation program covers everything from learning theory and groundbreaking research to practical applications and case studies.
The 2017 conference will take place June 14-16 at Columbia University in New York City.
This academic conference, hosted by the Academy of Human Resource Development, focuses on networking and hands-on breakout sessions. The unique Friday Conference Dine-Arounds connect conference registrants with colleagues around specific topics over dinner at local restaurants. Participants can also take part in pre-conference professional development workshops.
This year’s conference was held March 2-4 in San Antonio; details of 2018’s event haven’t yet been released.
Curious about gamification? This elearning conference is hosted by the Virginia Serious Games Institute and is designed to help learning professionals explore the impact of game-based learning. Speaking sessions are organized into tracks including corporate, government, healthcare and higher education, and an exhibitor area gives attendees the chance to try solutions out firsthand.
In 2017, the conference will be held July 18-20 at George Mason University near Washington, DC.
Hosted by The eLearning Guild, this conference lets you immerse yourself in the cutting-edge world of elearning technologies with over 100 sessions and hands-on demonstrations. Be sure not to miss DemoFest, a science fair-like showcase of elearning projects that lets you see solutions in action.

Asian and Australian elearning conferences
The Australian Institute of Training and Development puts on this annual conference for training professionals. Along with plenty of opportunities to network with other industry pros, you’ll also find keynote sessions, panel discussions, presentations and case studies on new technologies and elearning trends.
In 2017, the conference will be held in Sydney on May 11-12, with optional pre-conference workshops on May 10.
This conference is put on by ATD through a partnership with the Tze Chiang Foundation of Science and Technology (TCFST). It will focus on talent development specifically as it relates to the Asia Pacific region, with tracks including HR, organizational effectiveness and innovation, elearning and instructional design. The exhibition area will showcase all the latest elearning solutions.
The 2017 conference will be held November 8-10 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Senior HR and talent development professionals come together for Talent Management Asia, an elearning conference produced by Human Resources that’s been on the cutting edge of trends and challenges in the industry since its launch in 2013. Attendees can dig deep into themed content tracks, learn interactively in breakout sessions and network with other industry leaders.
While 2018’s dates haven’t yet been announced, 2017’s conference took place in March in three locations:
- March 7-8 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- March 9-10 in Singapore
- March 22-23 in Hong Kong

European elearning conferences
OEB brings together leaders in the corporate, education and public service sectors to share ideas and innovations. The cross-sector approach is reflected in the speaker tracks and exhibition hall, and fostered in interactive events like breakout sessions, tech demos, and networking events.
The theme for 2017 will be Learning Uncertainty, and the conference will take place December 6-8 in Berlin.
Speexx Exchange is an independent educational and networking event held before OEB. A mix of engaging speakers and multiple networking breaks makes it a valuable event for learning and human resource professionals at all stages of their careers.
The 2017 conference will be held in Berlin on the eve of the OEB conference (December 6).
The theme of this conference is “Trends in training and coaching,” and promises to explore the latest innovations, insights, and tools. The lineup of speakers and workshops is divided into parallel teaching and coaching tracks, allowing participants to choose their own concentration.
The 2017 conference will take place November 10-11 in Amsterdam.
Billing itself as an essential conference for senior L&D professionals, World of Learning features workshops, seminars and an expo designed to introduce attendees to the most cutting-edge ideas and solutions in elearning. Interactive demonstrations like the Technology Test Drive and Learning Design Live give attendees a hands-on experience with the latest L&D developments and innovations.
The 2017 conference runs from October 17-18, in Birmingham, UK.
Recently expanded to include the Learning & Skills conference, Learning Technologies combines a track of expert speakers and workshops with 150 free exhibition seminars. Over 7,500 people attended the 2017 conference, making it one of the biggest elearning conferences in Europe.
The conference for 2017 was earlier in the year; 2018’s conference will be held January 31-February 1 in London.
The European Corporate Learning Association (E-CLA) hosts the annual Innovations in Corporate Learning conference. This year, the discussion will center around innovation in leadership and will feature field trips throughout Berlin to see learning solutions in action.
The 2017 conference will be held November 30-December 2 in Berlin.
Focused on practical, interactive instruction, the Swiss eLearning Conference brings together elearning experts from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. The topic for 2017 will be “Learning in change: How digital learning supports change processes in organizations.”
